So, yeah, I had an interview yesterday. They Googled my name and found some stuff about me. A couple of them wasn't all that great. It's been a while since I've done a search for myself, so I decided I would go check out the stuff I've said. Some of it was very good, most was average, and a few were quite mean or bad. Some of them I thought "wow.. I said that?!". Obvioulsy I did, as I don't recall any of my accounts being hacked.. so it /must/ have been me. Some of them I remember getting angry at certain people and getting sick and tired of their attitudes but others I fired on for no reason at all... which was entirely my fault (eek!). I've found I have about 450 posts on a couple it mailing lists... I remember that vividly.
I also decided to see how my originaly Thick Ass (TM) wiki came out (found here). That was the first real document I wrote and released to the ether. It took a very long time to complete (find the history, with earliest first here). Once I got OpenLDAP figured out, the next difficult part was the authentication... after that it was smooth sailing. To see the full list of commits then go here. A good bit later someone else wrote another document that covered how to do a virtual hosting for Postfix, which IMO is far better than mine. I remember deciding that the old document Gentoo had (found here) was too old and needed some updating.. it also missed stuff at the time. It looks complete now and reasonably up to date. From there I moved to OpenBSD which wasn't too terribly difficult to migrate that document too. The reason I left Linux to go to OpenBSD was because updating a Gentoo box SUCKED and once you got too far out of date, it was a nightmare.
hmm, I can't find the first document I wrote, but the second one is this. You'll notice the counter sucks.. it counts clicks on the main page. It's hit Slashdot many moons and seasons ago. Thank $DEITY that it wasn't on my webserver and was on SBC's. I have no idea why they haven't shut down that site.
One of my blogs on there was a rant... which has a ton of typos. I was hanging around an anti-linux guy who pretty much is full of himself... ALL THE TIME. He used to harrass someone I cared about (I'm delibertly avoiding his name, and no it's not you Gerall (you're anti Windows anyways, not Anti Linux...) -- it's the Anti-Gerall, only because I feel nice at the moment...) in ways that used to piss me off. I don't like people giving my friends or family greif (not like jokes, but I mean this dude was a dick. seriously.).
Go to spheretech.old.java if you want to see some of my ancient, really crappy and lacked a clue, code. At the time I didn't know how to really utilize SQL databases. I was very uninformed. I'd like to think I'm informed now, but I know there is much to learn about it.
ahh.. the mammaries... or is it memories? :-P
FWIW, the first Linux distro that hosted my first website, was Slackware. It was exceptionally simple. I even got Sendmail (*gasp*) running, although now I use Postfix -- which is /far/ easier to get running.
oh yeah, I just realized that their is another Etherpunk out there. His name is Gerall, who is the one who told me about that person. Although, I've yet to see any of his posts... I usually post as Nazadus and never Etherpunk. hmm, looks like I found another Etherpunk.. who is a Goth (Gerall?). Hot chicks in some image... (what? can you blame me?).
Wow, I've posted all over the 'net. Google etherpunk.com or nazadus. I almost forgot.. I wrote the first install guide for Sorcerer Linux back in 2002. Source Mage wanted it and I said they could have it, but because I didn't care to release it out (I just wasn't caring for the arguments anymore, so I left the channel) under a free license, they wrote their own. I never really looked in to it though.
